About Independent Financial Group’s Charities

For more than 6 years, Independent Financial Group has awarded over $250,000 in contributions to numerous charities, including local schools.

In 2006, their first charitable donation was made to the Choose Living Foundation; inspired by record-breaking triathlete and ESPY award winner, Jim MacLaren. Through this philanthropic relationship, Independent Financial Group maintained an ongoing friendship with MacLaren until his passing in 2010. His vision of supporting disabled athletes through his foundation inspired the athletic community and launched the creation of the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

The Mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation is to provide opportunity and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Junior Blind of America helps children and adults who are visually impaired achieve independence. Through advocacy, events and education The Mitchell Thorp Foundation supports families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders.

Independent Financial Group also participates in the annual Toys for Tots drive, a non-profit event coordinated by the United States Marine Corps. In partnership with our troops, IFG supports children in need each year during the holiday season.
